A message from Caloundra Catholic Parish Priest, Fr Joshua Whitehead
Dear prospective Notre Dame College family,
I am delighted to share my vision of how Our Lady of the Rosary (OLR) Catholic Parish will offer to support your family.
Notre Dame College lies within the boundary of OLR Parish, extending west to Beerwah and the Maleny Hinterland and north to the Mooloolah River. The parish provides pastoral assistance to eight communities, including the families of Unity College, OLR Primary School, and soon Notre Dame College.
Notre Dame, being a brand-new school in a new area, offers the opportunity to reimagine what parish/school relationships look like in the 21st century. Rather than simply operating out of an outdated model of the parish, it is my intention as the leader of OLR Parish to create a culture of belonging, invitation, and accompaniment. Our parish's Mission is to be a vibrant community that actively accompanies people to encounter Jesus.
Our Mission is derived from an appreciation of what was versus what is today. Until the 1960s, faith was largely something that people inherited from both their parents and the religious institutions in which they found identity and community. Today, however, an active faith is something that is chosen by those who experience the joy, love, and peace of encountering the person of Jesus.
As you consider whether Notre Dame College is right for your family, be assured that my intention is to meet people where they are at. All Christians are blessed at baptism to “make disciples" (Mt 28:19), but to do so in a way which respects the dignity of every human being.
